British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Monday will announce plans to implement a strict three-tiered system of local measures when the lockdown ends on Dec. 2. Johnson's own party members say the move may do more harm than good.

According to BBC News, more areas will be placed into the higher tiers to keep the virus under control.

Johnson is looking to return to the three-tier system with each area assigned a tier depending on the outbreak number. The tiers — they were previously designated as Medium, High and Very High — will be announced Thursday.

A 10:00 p.m. curfew will return for bars and restaurants but will likely be refined.

The original lockdown was introduced in November, and case numbers throughout the country decreased, but there have still been thousands of cases.

Johnson has faced criticism for his lockdown plans. Lawmakers want to make sure cases and transmission will continue to decrease. The U.K.'s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies on Monday will release research that claims previous restrictions were not strong enough.

Health secretary Matt Hancock recently explained that safety methods and tactics need to continue even after the lockdown ends.

There are no official dates or projected dates of when the tiered plan will be put in place if approved.
