You would think the Dallas Cowboys have a much bigger lead in the NFC East than just one game when taking a look at the latest betting odds. Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott and Co. are overwhelming favorites to win the division and reach the NFL playoffs.

Dallas is given better than 1/3 odds to finish the season in first place. The Philadelphia Eagles are considered to be their only real competition with 3/1 odds. The Washington Redskins are long shots, and the New York Giants are virtually out of contention.

The Cowboys are a game ahead of both the Eagles and Redskins. Philadelphia owns the tiebreaker over Washington because of their head-to-head victory Monday night. The Redskins have lost three straight games and are down to their third quarterback because of season-ending injuries to Alex Smith and Colt McCoy. Washington hosts Philadelphia in the season finale.

If the Eagles have any chance of winning the NFC East, they almost certainly have to win Sunday. They’ll visit the Cowboys with the opportunity to grab a share of first place. Dallas already beat Philadelphia earlier in the season. The Eagles would essentially fall 2.5 games behind the Cowboys with a loss because Dallas would own the tiebreaker.

The remaining schedules favor the Cowboys. After the important Week 14 divisional matchup, Dallas will face the Indianapolis Colts, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Giants, none of whom have a winning record. Philadelphia will visit the Los Angeles Rams, who own the NFL’s best record, in Week 15. The Eagles will host the 9-3 Houston Texans in Week 16 before ending the season in Washington.

Since trading for Amari Cooper, Dallas has gone 4-1, including the four-game winning streak they’ll bring into their Week 14 contest. After shutting down the New Orleans Saints and their seemingly unstoppable offense in Week 13, the Cowboys rank second in points allowed.
