Earth Day is annually observed on April 22 to promote awareness about the environmental issues and urge people to embrace nature. This year marks the 51st anniversary of the celebration.

The day was founded in 1970 by Gaylord Nelson, a senator from Wisconsin. The theme this year is "Restore Our Earth," which will focus on natural processes, emerging green technologies and innovative thinking that can restore the world’s ecosystems.
