  • Cyborg's trainer admitted she has solid power
  • Cyborg is expected to participate in a boxing match with DAZN

Former UFC star Cris Cyborg was captured in a training video hurting her trainer’s hand when she hit the mitts too hard.

Prior to becoming a Bellator star, Cristiane Justino, popularly known as “Cyborg,” was one of the top contenders in the UFC. Touted as the next biggest name in the UFC’s female division after Ronda Rousey, Cyborg went on to challenge Amanda Nunes. However, she suffered a devastating loss, which was followed by a beef with UFC president Dana White that caused the end of her ties with the promotion.

But all that seems to be a thing of the past now for the Brazilian MMA star. Cyborg appears to be doing well with Bellator and has been working with some of the best boxing trainers in the world.

In a recent video uploaded by Elie Seckbach of EsNews, Cyborg was spotted training with veteran trainer Vergil Ortiz Sr., father of undefeated boxing prospect Vergil Ortiz Jr. In it, the incredibly fit MMA fighter could be seen working the mitts with Ortiz.

Everything seemed fine until Ortiz suddenly removed the mitt from his left hand and started complaining that it hurts. Upon noticing that she might have hurt her trainer, Cyborg stopped and gave the camera a worried look. Ortiz tried to shake the pain off his hand but eventually decided to stop for a while.

When asked about how powerful Cyborg was, Ortiz admitted, “She has a very solid power. She has a lot of good power.”

Cyborg is currently signed with Bellator and made her debut with the promotion on Jan. 25 against Julia Budd. The 34-year-old was able to steal the title, dismantling Budd with vicious punches in the fourth round.

Aside from the MMA, Cyborg is also expected to participate in a boxing match soon. Bellator CEO Scott Coker has confirmed shortly after Cyborg officially joined the promotion that a boxing match involving the Brazilian will happen with the help of DAZN. However, Coker also emphasized that MMA will still be Cyborg’s first priority.

“MMA is going to be her first commitment, but if she wants to box, I’m all about it. But we’re going to be a part of it. You might see her boxing on DAZN a couple times a year or once a year,” Coker revealed.

Cyborg recently sent Jon Jones a message following his rift with White and the UFC. According to her, it’s good that the big names in the promotion are finally standing up for their rights, and she claimed that she might have paved the way for them.
