The big game is almost here, and with it comes what promises to be another extravagant halftime show. Super Bowl LIII is airing on CBS at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday night, and it will include a halftime show by Maroon 5 and other special guests.

Exactly how long is the Super Bowl halftime show? It varies, but expect it to be significantly longer than a regular NFL intermission period.

In a normal NFL game, halftime lasts around 12 minutes. Since the Super Bowl features a hyped up halftime show with multiple popular artists, it can balloon to almost half an hour. It makes an already long sport even longer, as the Super Bowl can stretch to nearly four hours in length including the halftime show and ad breaks.

Maroon 5 will be joined at midfield by Outkast alum and Atlanta native Big Boi, as well as Travis Scott. There has been a bit of controversy in the months leading up to the performance, as some other rappers criticized Scott for being part of the show at all. The idea is that Scott should not support the NFL as it continues to allegedly keep former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick out of the league.

Along similar lines, Maroon 5 cancelled its press conference that would have taken place during the week leading up to the game. The band may have wanted to avoid questions about Kaepernick or other political topics.
