It appears Lamar Odom needs a bit more rest after the Los Angeles Clippers forward fell asleep right on the courtroom bench during a custody case for his child on Tuesday in New York City.

According to the New York Post, Odom was busted getting some shut eye during a child custody battle with his ex, Liza Morales, and alarmed a court officer while he was snoozing.

“Excuse me, are you OK?” an officer asked Odom, who said he was fine. “I need you to sit up,” the officer instructed. After being questioned by the officer, Odom sat up, but slumped over with his head on his hand.

Odom, 32, reportedly fell asleep for 20 minutes during the hearing, blaming it on being jet-lagged and the early stages of the flu. The Post described the scene as Odom’s legs having “dangled well over the short, second-floor wooden bench.”

Odom was in court for a custody hearing with Morales, whom he is fighting with for child support for their daughter, 14-year-old Destiny, and son, 11-year-old Lamar Jr. The former couple’s third child, six-year-old Jayden, died of sudden infant death syndrome in 2006, the Post reported.

Part of the custody hearing involved child support as well as a decision whether or not the children could appear on Odom’s reality series, “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” alongside his new wife, Khloe Kardashian.

Odom was excused from Tuesday night’s Clippers practice, coach Vinny Del Negro said. He's set to play in Wednesday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks at 10:30 p.m. EST.

Morales, Odom’s former longtime girlfriend, stars on TLC’s “Starter Wives,” though she and Odom were never married. Most recently, Morales wrote an open letter for the Daily Beast, in which she said Odom’s marriage to Kardashian shocked her.

“I don’t think I’ll forget the tight knot I felt in the pit of my stomach the morning I received the text message with three simple words on the screen. It read 'I’m getting married’ and it was from the man I’d spent more than 10 years of my life with,” she wrote. “Years that included us getting engaged in 2000 and becoming parents to one daughter and two sons. Yet not long after our separation Lamar Odom was getting married to Khloe Kardashian, a woman he’d met four weeks before. How could the man who’d constantly given me reason after reason for why we couldn’t get married just yet now be ready to tie the knot so quickly? There aren’t words to explain how I felt that day.”

Morales said the duo, who met during high school in Queens, keep things cordial for the children’s sake after the breakup. But now, they solely communicate through lawyers or third parties, which she said she deeply regrets. However, Morales said she has no qualms about meeting Odom’s new leading lady.

“As I continue to move on with my life, it can be difficult to avoid hearing about the Kardashians day in and day out,” she said. “But I do what I can to ignore the constant chatter and I try to keep it from the kids as well so they can have a life that is as normal as possible.”
