A veteran goalscorer admitted that he was never a Barcelona fan but hailed Lionel Messi as “the best” player in the world.

Ferran Corominas is a 37-year-old goalscorer who played for Espanyol from 2003-2011. During the same period of time, he rubbed shoulders with Messi and has gone through epic battles with Barcelona. And just recently, “Coro” looked back and expressed his real thoughts about the Barca and its Argentine ace.
According to Corominas, he was never a fan of Barcelona. He also thinks that Cristiano Ronaldo is “very good” but his eternal rival Messi is “the best” player in the world today, Times Of India reported.

"When I was young, I used to follow Raul. But Messi for me is the best player currently, he is special. I love the way Messi plays, though I am not a fan of Barcelona. Cristiano Ronaldo is very good, but I prefer Messi,” Corominas said.

The second-highest scorer in the ongoing ISL-6 also recalled how “matches against Barcelona were always tough.” Based on Corominas recollection, whenever they play Barcelona, there were always “a lot of emotions involved in the games.” The goalscorer even credited Espanyol fans as they knew “how tough it is to play against Barcelona.”

This wasn’t the first time a veteran goalscorer weighed in on the Messi vs. Ronaldo debate. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a versatile scorer who is best known for his technical ability, strength, acrobatics, and is widely regarded as one of the best players of his generation, once made a said that Ronaldo is “hardworking” but Messi is “unique.” Ronaldo is an “extremely hardworking player” and he deserves all the credit he has been receiving thus far. However, Messi “is a unique player” who is very attached to his homeland .

Meanwhile, Messi and Barcelona are evidently experiencing one of their most challenging seasons thus far. It will be remembered that Messi got involved in a verbal war with sporting director Eric Abidal. However, reports claim that the Barcelona captain is "comfortable " at the club despite the recent controversies.

Malcom, who left Barca for Zenit in the summer of 2019 , commented on the current issues between Messi and the club. According to him, Messi could “do crazy things” sometimes but he still “covers up” the problems at Barcelona and remains the greatest influence in the club, Goal reported.

“Leo is the best player in the world; sometimes he does crazy things and helps Barcelona out a lot. That's why sometimes when they speak about Barcelona, they speak about Leo. It's normal because of everything he does,” Malcom said.
