Lionel Messi has recorded an impressive stat for Barcelona despite not scoring a goal for three straight games.

Things have been quite different in Barcelona these past few weeks. The club has gone through a series of losses which saw Messi getting fed up and frustrated. Not to mention that Barca has also been plagued with controversies lately. And to make matters worse, it also involves their long-time ace Messi.

However, Barcelona has remained tough and as for Messi, he seems to be embracing a different role for the Catalans.

For the record, Messi have not scored a goal for the third game in a row for Barcelona. He almost made it a couple of times at Real Betis on Sunday night, but he always fell short.

However, the Barcelona captain was able to provide a hat-trick of assists to ensure the Catalans kept pace with Real Madrid at the top of LaLiga Santander .

Despite not being prolific in goalscoring in the past few games, the Argentine remains the league’s best goalscorer thus far. He is not only the top scorer in the league with 14 goals, but he has also provided the most assists with 11. The said tally also revealed that the 32-year-old has had a hand in 25 of Barcelona 's goals in LaLiga Santander this season.

What was even remarkable in Messi’s assisting clinic lately is the fact that he has been involved in a goal scored in the entire La Liga every 61 minutes.

Though it is quite hard to believe but the current Messi is evidently turning into a brand new player. Another interesting fact is that the only other time Messi provided three assists in one game came back during the 2015/16 campaign against Getafe . This just goes to show that in the recent years in between, the world has witnessed a goalscoring Messi. But now, “Leo” has been showing the other skill he has inside the field. He even helped his possible Barcelona successor Ansu Fati in making history for the club by handing him a spectacular back-to-back assists.

Fati became the youngest ever player to score a double in La Liga after Messi orchestrated the two goals for the Barca youngster.

Nobody can ever predict whether Messi could return to his goalscoring form. But no matter how long Messi suffer from goalscoring drought, one thing is for certain, he still holds a series of La Liga goal records under his name.
