Nintendo announced that “Luigi’s Mansion 3” will be released this coming Halloween.

Finally, Nintendo has announced that the latest installment to the fun haunted mansion hunt adventure game starring the iconic Luigi will be released at the most appropriate of times. In a tweet, Nintendo of America said “Luigi’s Mansion 3” will be released on October 31st -- which, of course, is known as Halloween.

“Luigi’s Mansion 3” will be the first installment to be released in the Nintendo Switch. The game, which was announced on this year’s E3, has been previously reported as a charming and fun game that puts players in the shoes of Luigi as he goes on a mission haunting ghosts in a haunted hotel called the Last Resort hotel. He’s actually looking for Mario and his friends, but ends up fighting ghosts along the way.

Trick or Treat

“Luigi’s Mansion 3” will allow players to play as Luigi and a green colored doppelganger made of goo aptly named Gooigi. Players who play alone can switch between Luigi and Gooigi in order to do certain things only one of them can do.

Gooigi, created by the ever-helpful professor E.Gadd, has the ability to enter areas Luigi cannot. It can walk through closed gates, spikes, and walk through tight spaces. Gooigi has to be careful near water, however, as stepping on some water --especially near a drain-- will lead to unwanted results.

Those who want to play with a friend can do so. By using two joy-cons separately, two players can enjoy local co-op gameplay with one player playing as Luigi and the other playing as his green doppelganger.

Luigi and Gooigi have to work together to fight against the ghosts in the Last Resort hotel in order to find and rescue Mario, Princess Peach and the others. Thankfully, Luigi has new equipment specially designed for the task: the upgraded Poltergust G-00. This device gives him the ability to slam ghosts, blow them away, or remove their defenses to defeat them.

The new game also adds the “ScareScraper” mode: a game mode where up to eight players race against the clock to clear floors of ghosts and objectives.

Luigi’s Mansion 3” will be released Oct. 31 this year. Stay tuned for more updates.
