  • Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman wants Memphis Depay at Camp Nou
  • Depay is noncommittal despite being aware of Barca's interest
  • Lyon coach Rudi Garcia says he'd support Depay's move to Barcelona

Lyon captain Memphis Depay says he knows that Barcelona is trying to pursue him in the transfer market but clarifies that he has yet to make a commitment to the possible move this summer.

“We just have to see what will happen. I'll report to (Lyon) tomorrow and we'll see what happens," he told NOS, via Goal, following the Netherland’s 1-0 loss to Italy in the UEFA Nations League on Monday.

"I haven't heard much more from my agent. I know that there is interest, but I don't have much more to say because I don't know much about it."

Depay has been placed on Barcelona’s radar since Ronald Koeman, a fellow Dutch, was appointed as the new head coach of the Spanish giants in August.

The 26-year-old had already addressed the speculation in a previous press conference where he hinted on the possible transfer, saying he is unsure if he would reach the end of the season with the French side.

"I do not see the future, I do not know if I will do the full season here. I have been here for four years, I became captain,” he said after scoring a hat-trick to lead Lyon to a 4-1 win over Dijon in their Ligue 1 opener.

"After you have to look at your career, there is no Champions League. At the moment I don't know."

Lyon coach Rudi Garcia has also been made aware of Depay’s rumored move to Barca and said that he will vow to offer his full support if his prized forward indeed decides to complete the transfer.

"I read the Catalan press this morning. They talk about Memphis," he told Telefoot. "But like many of my players, if they have the opportunity to play in a club built to win the Champions League, and he's met a lot of them last season, I will personally take him in my car."

Depay has left a huge imprint in French football since arriving at the Groupama Stadium in 2017. After two successful stints in PSV Eindhoven and Manchester United, he signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with Lyon and has appeared in 139 matches, scoring 57 goals.
