Luck is an understatement when it comes to describing the feat that Rolf Rhodes of Massachusetts has reached. In just 18 months, he won two $1M jackpot prizes from the state’s lottery!

Living in Mendon, MA, Rhodes won the $1M in May. At the time he took the bet, he just wanted to win the $650,000 one-time payment. He didn’t know that his $10 instant game will turn into another $1M.

Two $1M Jackpots

Rhodes had already won his first million on May 22, 2018, as per NYPost’s report. He also purchased a $10 instant game and got lucky enough. The ticket was purchased from Mac Package Store located at Prospect Street in Milford.

His second sweeping win this year was brought about by a ticket he purchased at Imperial Gas and Country Store. The gas station is located on Millville Road, Mendon. The station will receive a bonus of $10,000.

Carra Kempton, a cashier and gas attendant at the station, told Boston Herald that it was her first time that she had heard the station selling a ticket that won the jackpot. She also described the whole situation as “cool.”

“It’s pretty cool, I’ve been a customer here for longer than I’ve ever worked here. It’s the first I’ve heard of us selling a jackpot,” said Kempton.

Other Winners

Rhodes wasn’t the only one who got to win the grand prizes in Massachusetts State Lottery. This October, Tarik Kabiri also won $1M grand prize in “The Fastest Road to $1 Million.”

Kabiri won in the instant ticket game and opted for the $650,000 instant ticket game before taxes. Kabiri revealed in MassLottery that he would be using a portion of the amount he won to go on a vacation. He also planned to visit his mother.

The winning ticket was purchased by Kabiri from Richdale Convenience Store located in Lynn. Like the gas station where Rhodes purchased the winning ticket, the convenience store will also be receiving a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Another winner was James McDonough. He purchased a “Diamond Millions” ticket, which cost $30 and won the cash prize of $1M before taxes. He would be using a portion of the cash prize to buy a truck.
