Manchester City are reportedly close to signing Everton wonderkid Emilio Lawrence ahead of the 2022-23 season.

The Scottish midfielder has completed his medicals with the Etihad club and has accepted a long-term deal, which is expected to be announced in the coming days, according to Fabrizio Romano, who has a credible record in the European transfer market.

The 16-year-old Lawrence, who was a part of Everton’s Under-23s last season, is now on the way to joining Manchester City’s training camp in Croatia.

He will join the players in Croatia who could not enter the U.S. for the pre-season matches, including Phil Foden and John Stones, according to SB Nation, via City Xtra.

Having played in the Premier League Under-18s, FA Youth Club, among a few other tournaments, Lawrence has netted seven goals and provided three assists in 26 games, according to Trasnfermarkt.

Meanwhile, Manchester City have been linked with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star forward Neymar, who still has a contract with the Ligue 1 side until 2025.

French media outlet Le Parisien earlier reported Neymar has been directly offered to Man City. However, Etihad club’s head coach Pep Guardiola has rubbished the claim, terming it as "false."

"I am so sorry for Le Parisien, but it is not true. I am sorry for them because the information they have received is false," Guardiola said ahead of his side's pre-season friendly clash with Club America on Thursday, according to Goal.com.

"Neymar is an incredible player and by my information, he is a nice guy. Let him express himself in Paris. Manchester City bought 150 players every summer, and it is not true. I am sorry for Neymar, of course," the Spanish manager added.

While Neymar may not be joining the Premier League champions, Guardiola is content with the signings the club has made so far this summer. Manchester City have landed Erling Haaland and Kalvin Phillips from Borussia Dortmund and Leeds United respectively.

The Etihad club has also signed highly-rated Argentine forward Julian Alvarez and backup goalkeeper Stefan Ortega.
