Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez became emotional after his side's 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Wednesday.

After making a summer move from Ajax to Manchester United, Martinez's inclusion was questioned regarding his lack of height. However, the Argentinian center-back is suddenly becoming popular among the Red Devils fans.

Manchester United's fans have been producing chants of "Argentina, Argentina" regularly around Premier League stadiums as a gesture for Martinez, who arrived at Old Trafford at $65 million on a five-year deal.

"To be honest, it's very emotional for me [hearing the fans sing for him]. I'm at one of the best clubs in the world. This stadium, atmosphere is amazing. When I heard the fans singing, I wanted to cry," Martinez told Man Utd's media after their 2-0 win in the league.

The 24-year-old player, who has started all of Manchester United's 10 Premier League fixtures this season, dedicated the triumph over Spurs to his grandparents.

"This result is for my grandmother and my grandfather, who are not with me now, but I always feel that love with me," he said.

The Argentina national also termed the latest victory as one of the best, if not the best, performances of Manchester United in the underway season.

"We [had] a top performance tonight and we controlled the game. I'm really happy because this team deserves it — we always try hard and we always want to play on this level," Martinez said, as per Goal.com.

Meanwhile, Martinez also praised midfielder Fred, who was on the goal sheet along with fellow midfield player Bruno Fernandes.

"He deserves it [the goal]. He trained very hard, and he deserves it," Martinez, who has made 14 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions, added.

Despite Spurs boosting of likes of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, Manchester United managed to maintain a clean sheet, their third successive one in all competitions.

"I think we were very solid in defense tonight. They [Kane and Son] have a lot of quality, are very strong, and have a lot of technical [ability] as well. I think we controlled the game tonight, it's great also to get a clean sheet," Martinez said, praising his teammates, according to Man Utd's media.
