Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has suffered a fresh set back in his hopes of playing for Manchester United again after damaging his shoulder in a training session on Friday.

The 30-year-old has been plagued by injuries since his £17m move from Bayern Munich in 2007, but it looked likely that he would play a part in the last lap of this season for Manchester United after he recovered from a series of knee and hamstring injuries. However, he is now facing a further four-week lay-off after his shoulder popped out in training when he jumped for a header.

The England midfielder's contract will run out in June and his ligament damage means he will not, yet, add to his six minutes of first team football since September 2008. His previous attempt to make a comeback, against Wolves on November, was thwarted when he tore a hamstring, and this latest injury will certainly see him consider retirement.
