  • Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised defender Axel Tuanzebe

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s Manchester United were a step ahead on all fronts when they squared off against Paris Saint-Germain, 2-1, in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.

Axel Tuanzebe's star shined the brightest in the match. Returning from an injury that sidelined him for 10 months, the Congo native made an apparent impact in his comeback.

Tuanzebe exerted great effort in manning the defense to contain PSG stars Kylian Mbappe and Neymar on the field as the two were unable to tally a goal for their club.

“Axel did fantastic, he’s been out for 10 months so to put in a performance like this against Neymar and Mbappe almost surprised us as well,” Solskjaer told Goal.

"We know he’s a good player, but to do it on a night like this is fantastic."

Bruno Fernandes opened the floodgates for Manchester United as he fulfilled his promise of bouncing back in the next penalty opportunity.

To wrap it up for the Red Devils, Marcus Rashford hammered the final nail in the coffin by scoring a goal at the 87th minute of the contest.

“It’s a better performance this time than last even though last time we won 3-1. I think the performance this time showed we had developed,” Solskjaer stated.

Looking at the bigger picture, Solskjaer hopes that his team could carry over the same kind of winning mentality in their upcoming games.

“You might see this system again,” Solskjaer said. “When you win games and perform well. you get confidence. We’re going to go into that [Chelsea] game confident.”

Manchester United is set to collide with Chelsea FC in the English Premier League meeting on Saturday.
