[UPDATE: 8/20/2013, 2:32 p.m.] Decatur Patch reported that the suspect is in custody and all 820 students are safe. No one was injured. WSB TV reported the suspect is "a white male in his 20s who was armed with an AK-47." WSB Radio, though, tweeted the white male was armed with an AK-37.

Patch reported parents could pick up their children in the nearby Walmart parking lot.

WSBTV tweeted: "JUST IN: From @jodiewsbtv: suspect was a white male, all in black, surrendered peacefully. #McNairShooting."

A shooting was reported at Ronald McNair Discovery Learning Academy in Decatur, Ga., on Tuesday. An active shooter was still present early afternoon at the elementary school.

DeKalb County School Board Chairman Melvin Johnson told WSBTV shots were fired but there are no reports of injuries.

WSBTV reported the gunman has not been located while video footage showed children running from the school building.

The Republic reported that authorities are responding to the report of the shooting.

The shooting at McNair Elementary was first reported from inside the school to the Channel 2 Action desk at WSBTV. The station reported that “shots could be heard over the call.”

The school is Ronald McNair Discovery Learning Academy in Decatur, Georgia.
