Prince Harry and wife Meghan on Sunday announced the birth of a daughter Lilibet "Lili" Diana, a name that pays tribute to Harry’s mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, and is the nickname of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

The daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was reportedly born on Friday at 11:40 a.m. PT in Santa Barbara, California, and weighed in at 7 pounds, 11 ounces.

"On June 4, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili," read a note on the couple's Archewell website.

"She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we've felt from across the globe.

"Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family."

The couple’s press secretary said Meghan and Lilibert were healthy and back at the couple's home in Montecito, California. The birth comes after Meghan suffered a miscarriage in July 2020.

Meghan, 39, grew up in Los Angeles, which is about 90 miles south of Montecito.

The name Lilibet has drawn attention due to the estrangement between the couple and the British royal family and after an explosive interview in March with Oprah Winfrey that touched on the child's skin color and poor treatment by the royals. In February, the Queen and Buckingham Palace confirmed that Harry and Meghan would not "continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service."

It is the second child for Harry and Meghan. The couple has a 2-year-old son, Archie.

The couple has not released pictures of Lilibet. She is the Queen's 11th great-grandchild and eighth in line to the throne.
