  • The AFC East will drastically change with the departure of Tom Brady to Tampa Bay
  • Running back Frank Gore says that the AFC East division is now wide open
  • The Buffalo Bills are the new favorites to take the top seed in the AFC East

The AFC East has turned an interesting phase with the departure of Tom Brady from the New England Patriots. The upcoming season has the Buffalo Bills as the projected top AFC East team over squads like the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets.

The recent offseason had the big news of legendary quarterback Brady leaving for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In almost two decades of Brady leading New England in the league, the six-time Super Bowl champion decided to suit up for a different squad in the coming year.

With this situation, running back Frank Gore says that this season is up for grabs in the AFC East.

Per NBC Sports, the multiple-time Pro-Bowler Gore shared that several teams should take advantage of the situation.

“I think it’s wide open,” Gore said. “Brady’s gone,” he added.

Judging from the 2019 season, the Patriots stood at the top spot in the division standings with a 12-4 record. That is all predicted to change with the absence of their top signal-caller as the Bills are looking to take the top seed.

The Bills finished the 2019 campaign with a 10-6 slate. While they qualified for the playoffs, they fell short against the Houston Texans during the Wild Card round.

While the Bills have shown promise in the previous year, they’re looking to bounce back even stronger in the coming season. They recently acquired wide receiver Stefon Diggs in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings in the recently concluded NFL draft. This positions their offense stronger with the combination of Diggs and Gore.

The division looks like a free lane for the Bills on top but it’s still open for more teams to step up. The Jets have Jamal Adams as one of their biggest assets as rumors continue to pile up regarding the 24-year-old safety. If New York is able to play their cards right then they may be able to get something in exchange for Adams.

The Dolphins, on the other hand, recently picked up a possible quarterback of the future in Tua Tagovailoa. The rookie is considered as one of the best talents to come off the current rookie class. The main concern right now is if his injury history will play a big factor in year s to come.

It will be interesting to see how the upcoming season pans out for the AFC East without Brady as the main competitor.
