KEY POINTS

  • Jets host Rangers on Tuesday
  • Jets seek fourth win in a row
  • Rangers tagged as slight underdogs

Goalie Igor Shesterkin has put David Quinn on quite a dilemma with his recent display of a top-notch game. The rookie has been a monster in his role as a goaltender that he has been consuming most of the playing time in New York’s three-man goalie rotation. The Winnipeg Jets have taken notice of this as they brace themselves for Shesterkin and the rest of the Rangers inside their home ice on Tuesday.

New York Rangers

Not that David Quinn complains of the problem of having the luxury of talented goalies. But while the dilemma can be viewed as a good one, the Rangers head coach will still have to figure out how he is going to utilize them in his rotation. It will be tough for him to pull back Shesterkin as it could halt his momentum. The 24-year-old saved 42-of-43 shots on Sunday which proved paramount to the 4-1 beating of the Los Angeles Kings.

And while Shesterkin takes the responsibility of manning their goal, Artemi Panarin is once again expected to take care of the Rangers’ scoring business as he looks to maintain his status as a top-10 offensive player in the NHL.

Winnipeg Jets

The Jets bagged their fourth win in five games after rolling past the Chicago Blackhawks last Sunday, 5-2, that improved their position in the Western Conference at seventh place. Kyle Connor is just on a league of his own. He scored two goals and set up an assist on Sunday to reach 15 points in his last 11 games. Along with Mark Scheifele, Connor will be expected to tow Winnipeg especially now that they are already playing at the crucial stages of the season.

Odds and Trends

With a three-game winning streak on the line, the Jets are expected to perform beyond their standards that the latest NHL Odds tagged them with a slim edge over the visiting Rangers for this match, -135 against +115 to win.

The Rangers are 29-59 in their last 88 games as a road underdog and 19-42 in their last 61 games following a win.

The Jets are 8-1 in their last 9 games as a home favorite and 1-5 in their last 6 in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 situation.

Over is 4-0 in Rangers last 4 vs. Central and 9-1 in Jets last 10 games following a win.

Under is 10-2-2 in Rangers last 14 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game.
