Paul Pogba has proven that the tension on the pitch, remains on the pitch.

Manchester United managed to slip a narrow 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers courtesy of Mason Greenwood’s goal at the 80th minute on Sunday.

However, the Wolves were convinced the striker’s goal should have been disallowed following an alleged foul by Pogba on Ruben Neves in the build-up.

Furious about the ref’s decision, Wolves fans repeatedly chanted “cheat, cheat, cheat” at Pogba as the midfielder walks towards the exit.

Instead of retaliating, Pogba gifted his shirt to one of the home team’s fan. The World Cup winner’s class act didn’t only shut the fans but was also rewarded with a round of applause, per Manchester Evening News journalist Samuel Luckhurst.

Neves, on the other hand, was still fuming at the refs during his post-match interview, stressing he still couldn't understand how the refs still make wrong calls despite the help of VAR.

For Neves, it was a “clear foul” as Pogba didn’t manage to reach the ball and touched his leg instead.

“Everyone saw it, everyone saw my leg, I don’t know why to be honest with you. We always do meetings and everything with referees about VAR, I don’t know why,” Neves argued. “They said before the season started they will look for contact. If the contact is strong enough, they will give the foul. I showed them my leg, that’s their decision now.”

“I asked the ref why I did it. I was delayed because I didn’t know where the ball was going,” he added. “After the game, he said ‘You both go to the ball’ and I said ‘Yes, we both go to win the ball but I was the one who touched the ball. He touched my leg’. It’s a foul, a clear foul.”

“I showed my leg to the ref, I showed to the assistant ref, I cannot say,” the Portuguese pointed out. “That’s their decision.”

Also addressing the subject, Pogba emphasized that such cases boil down to the ref’s decision.

Moreover, the Frenchman insisted that he can’t recall whether he touched Neves’ leg or not.

“My view, this is Premier League. It’s a 50-50 every weekend that’s happening,” Pogba said. “If it’s a foul, it’s a foul. I have to see it again but I don’t [think I] touch him.”

Manchester United boss Solskjaer, meanwhile, refused to “argue” about the call and commended Greenwood for a “great shot.”

“Today I am not going to argue,” the manager explained. “I think it is a fair challenge and the ball ends up with Mason and [then] a great shot, so well done Mason for getting a shot on target."
