A Manchester United youngster delighted the fans by emulating Cristiano Ronaldo during game.

Ronaldo has yet to make his debut for Manchester United this season. However, some in the club’s youth team are already hyped about the Portuguese’s return.

Among them was Red Devils Under-18 winger Sam Mather.

The Manchester United youth squad beat Leeds United, 3-0, on Saturday, with Mather, Daniel Gore and Kobbie Mainoo scoring one goal apiece.

While it was already fulfilling to witness the club’s first win of the season, Manchester United fans were even more entertained by Mather’s mimicking of Ronaldo’s iconic “si” goal celebration after hitting the back of the net at the 74th minute.

Manchester United’s official Twitter account posted Mather’s goal video clip which now has over 187,000 views.

Ronaldo, meanwhile, is expected to make finally make first Manchester United appearance this season on September 11 when the club takes on Newcastle United.

Behind the adulation of the fans, famed pundits in the sport, Gary Neville and Paul Merson have both stressed a few possible downsides of Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford.

“I would say he’s at 50% [compared to how Ronaldo was at 26 or 27],” Merson assessed. “His numbers, don’t get me wrong, are still phenomenal. With him being the top scorer again last season in Italy, everywhere he’s been he has done it.”

“He’s 36 years of age,” he added. “If he does it this season in the Premier League then you would have to stand up and say that he is near on not human. For every kid at Man United–Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho–I don’t know if it puts them back one notch with Ronaldo coming in.”

“So in terms of what he gives to Manchester United, it just gives them something that at this moment in time they need. And this could give them a temporary shot in the arm that would potentially get them right up there this year.”

“This news gives me more hope that Manchester United could have a great season, and what it does give every United fan is a great feeling because this is one [of the] most special players that has ever lived, that’s ever played the game of football. [But] look, a little bit nostalgic and nostalgia doesn’t always work in football, it sometimes kicks you sometimes when you don’t expect it.”
