KEY POINTS

  • Son scored 23 league goals for Spurs last season
  • He shared the Golden Boot with Liverpool's Mo Salah
  • Spurs have 4 wins in 6 games this league season

Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-Min has insisted that he is "not worried" by his goal drought but is aiming to return to his fine form from last season.

In Spurs' last 14 games in the Premier League campaign, Son netted 14 goals and those strikes came in nine games. The South Korean forward ended the league season by sharing the Premier League Golden Boot alongside Liverpool's Mohamed Salah with 23 goals in total. Son also provided nine assists in 35 games.

With 71 points, Spurs finished 2021-22 in fourth place and secured the Champions League for the 2022-23 term.

Seven games into the 2022-23 season, in all competitions, Son is yet to score for Spurs. However, it has not cost him his place on Antonio Conte's side so far, and he is confident that one goal can jump-start his campaign.

"I'm OK. If I'm honest, if I wasn't getting chances in the game I would be worried but I'm still getting chances. In some games, there have been unlucky moments. In some games, it has been a bad finish. This is going to make me stronger. This is something I can see will be an improvement because I still have a lot of space for improvement," Son said in a recent interview, according to Yahoo Sports.

The 30-year-old forward went on to say that "the most important is that Spurs are doing well" and he'll do everything that he can for the team's needs.

"In some games, I'm really frustrated because if I have some massive chances and the ball doesn't go in. It makes me just laugh. But I am not worried about it because the team and the staff and all the fans are helping me. I think if I score one the confidence will be back and I hope I can go on and score more goals," added Son.

Courtesy of Richarlison's two goals, the North London club also started off their Champions League campaign earlier this week with a win over Marseille.

Spurs are the only other side, apart from Manchester City, that are unbeaten in the Premier League this season. From six games, Conte's side has clinched four wins and two draws and are placed third in the league table, behind Arsenal and City.

City and Spurs are set to face off next in the Premier League on Saturday at Etihad Stadium.
