Queen Elizabeth made an appearance Thursday after two days of rest following an overnight stay at the hospital.

Following a night at the private Edward VII hospital in London for "preliminary investigations," the queen reappeared in good spirits as she resumed an online royal engagement.

"I am very glad to have a chance to see you if only mechanically this morning," the queen said at the virtual awarding of a medal for poetry to British poet and translator David Constantine via video link.

The video link released by Buckingham Palace also showed the queen making jokes on camera as she told Constantine “I don't know what you do with [the medal]. Do you put it in a cupboard?"

The queen’s hospital visit was her first since 2003, raising widespread concerns about the 95-year-old’s health. Though the reasons for her hospital stay remain a mystery, Buckingham Palace has confirmed that it is not related to COVID-19, Reuters noted.

Despite her good spirits, Queen Elizabeth will not be attending next week's COP26 climate summit following "advice to rest" from doctors.

She has also been advised to be accompanied by one of her children or grandchildren in official events moving forward.
