Air Ticket & Boarding (ATB) Card Details

The purchase of an airline ticket is exciting, but travel prospects have many hoops to jump through. Once a purchase has been completed, a traveler will receive an air ticket and boarding card. An air ticket and boarding card can be downloaded and printed at home, printed at check-in from a kiosk or an airline agent, or the traveler can digitally download the air ticket and boarding card to your smart device.

Once a traveler has the air ticker and boarding card in hand, they can pass through security. Security will conduct various air ticket and boarding card checks using a passport, visa, driver's license, or identification card. Once approved by security, a traveler will pass through various security checks of person and luggage. Once through security, the traveler will follow the air ticket and boarding card details to find the correct gate and wait until their time to board the airplane.

Travelers art not allowed past security if they do not have a current air ticket and boarding card. While the air ticket and boarding card grant access to the airplane and the reserved seat for the flight, it also grants a traveler access to the airport; without it, travel would be impossible. A traveler should treat their air and boarding card carefully and not lose it at any time. Keep the document accessible along with your identification to board the plane.

Example of an Air Ticket & Boarding (ATB) Card

Jane wants to travel to Los Angeles, California, from New York City, New York. She purchases a ticket online from the popular airline WestSouth. Once she completes the transaction, Jane receives a confirmation number of her flight and the details like the time, date, and place of the flight.

The day before her flight, Jane can use her confirmation number to digitally download or print an air ticket and boarding card. Or she can check-in at the airport and receive an air ticket and boarding card from an airline agent or kiosk. Checking-in at the airport is expected if a traveler has baggage that needs to be checked-in for the flight.

Following check-in, the air ticket and boarding card grant Jane access to pass through security to her flight gate. Once at her flight gate, Jane presents her air ticket and boarding card again to board the plane and take her assigned seat on the flight.
