  • An unnamed military technique can allow anyone to sleep within 2 minutes of closing their eyes
  • The method, which was primarily developed for fighter pilots, required a person to deliberately relax their body
  • People hoping to master the technique have to practice it every night for six weeks

A "mind-blowing" military technique can allow anyone to sleep within 2 minutes, a personal trainer has claimed.

After laying down to sleep, the first step in the technique required a person to calm their body and to "systematically relax" as well as "shut down" each part of the body "from head to toe, literally," Canada-based fitness coach Justin Agustin said in a video uploaded to his TikTok account.

Agustin advised viewers to start by relaxing the muscles in their forehead, eyes, cheeks and jaw while focusing on their breathing.

They can then move to relax their neck and shoulders, but Agustin pointed out that people should make sure their shoulders "are not tensed up."

After that, a person should drop their shoulders "as low" as they can get and make sure their arms are loose, including their hands and fingers.

A person attempting to do this technique should imagine a "warm sensation" coming from the head all the way down to their fingertips, Agustin suggested.

The next step involved taking a deep breath, slowly exhaling and relaxing the chest and stomach down to the thighs, knees, legs and feet.

At this point, Agustin again advised people to imagine a "warm sensation," this time coming from the heart going all the way down to the toes.

"Now, while you're doing this, it's really important to clear your mind of any stresses," the personal trainer said in his video, which has since been viewed nearly 7 million times.

Agustin suggested that people can think of two scenarios to achieve this: one where they are lying in a canoe "on a calm lake with nothing but a clear blue sky above" or another where they were "lying in a black velvet hammock in a pitch-black room."

The fitness coach then told viewers to repeat the words "don't think" for 10 seconds should they find themselves thinking about anything else or starting to get distracted.

"That's the technique. You're supposed to practice every night for six weeks," Agustin concluded.

The method demonstrated was developed in the military to allow soldiers to fall asleep "at any time [and] any place, even in the battlefield," according to Agustin.

He added that the technique was mainly developed for fighter pilots "who need 100% of their reflexes and focus, which we all know decreases with the lack of sleep."

While not mentioned in his video, Agustin’s technique appeared to be the same sleeping method that was supposedly developed by an undisclosed U.S. Navy Pre-Flight School, which allowed 96% of its pilots to sleep in under 2 minutes “even after drinking coffee” or “with machine gun fire being played in the background.”
