The Golden State Warriors have been celebrating their 2017 NBA Championship, collectively and individually. Warriors forward Klay Thompson went to China to promote his new Anta sneakers and tried to show fans his vertical leaping skills. It didn’t end well, and the internet has been laughing ever since.

The Warriors are the NBA Champions of the world and may feel larger than life. One Warrior, in particular, may feel a little embarrassed following a failed attempt to display his athleticism. Though Thompson stands at 6 foot 8, he isn’t the flashiest dunker and is known for his deadly three-point shot rather than leaping ability.

Thompson went to China to promote his new Anta sneaker and attempted to perform a 360 dunk, one of the most difficult dunks around. Surrounded by a small crowd of fans, Thompson got a running start and lifted himself off the ground for the dunk, only to meet the rim and fall to the floor. His fans immediately ran to his aid, but the superstar forward appeared to be fine. The only thing bruised may be his ego.

Though this isn’t the first time the internet has made light of the superstar forward.

Thompson, who left Nike for Anta, a Chinese company, in 2014 struck a sneaker deal for a reported $3 million. He and Anta developed a line of sneakers some said were not the most aesthetically appealing. Twitter dragged the star forward for his choice of sneaker design, some calling the shoe, "ugly." Although some may not agree with Thompson’s choice of aesthetic for the sneaker, he stands to make quite a bit of money with the shoe.

Thompson’s deal with Chinese brand Anta is set to end during the 2019-20 NBA season, and the company has offered him another multiyear shoe deal extension that would put him among the highest grossing footwear endorsers in the NBA.

Thompson wore his signature Anta sneaker in a white-and-gold edition during the NBA Finals. The shoe has a "KT11" logo across the tongue and gold accents on the clear bottom and midsole.

The KT2 "Chase," which Anta America debuted in May, retailed for $120 and is obtainable in two colorways: a white-and-gold theme for home games, and black-and-gold for the Warriors road games. According to Anta’s product descriptions, the gold accents are figurative: “While it may be said that there’s glory in the journey, a true warrior knows the chase is meaningless without the prize. Driven toward the golden ring, the chase is the warrior’s path to immortality.”

Thompson inked a 4-year max extension contract with the Warriors for the 2018-19 season. The star forward doesn’t just have a sneaker endorsement deal, but many other deals outside the Anta company. He has deals with businesses like Gillette, BMW, Body Armour, Stance Socks, ShotTracker, Fanatics, Panini, Tempurpedic mattresses and EA Sports.
