The front offices of the Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics won’t have much time to rest after the NBA Finals. Important roster decisions will be made next week in the 2022 NBA Draft.

When is the 2022 NBA Draft? The event is scheduled for Thursday, June 23. The first round has a start time of 7:30 p.m. ET.

The draft order was determined with the lottery on May 17. The Orlando Magic won the No. 1 overall pick in what is viewed as a top-heavy draft.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have the No. 2 selection, followed by the Houston Rockets with the No. 3 pick. Three college basketball players are thought to have a chance of being drafted at the top of the draft.

Auburn forward Jabari Smith is considered to be the slight favorite to be picked first by the Magic. It won’t be surprising if Orlando goes with Gonzaga center Chet Holmgren. Duke’s Paolo Banchero is in the conversation to go first overall, though his most likely landing spot appears to be Houston.

The 2022 draft order changed a little more than a week before the Magic officially go on the clock. The Dallas Mavericks traded four players and the No. 26 overall pick to the Rockets in exchange for Christian Wood, according to ESPN. The Denver Nuggets reportedly acquired the final pick in the first round in a trade involving JaMychal Green.

The Golden State Warriors own the No. 28 pick. The Celtics sent their first-round pick to the San Antonio Spurs at the trade deadline in exchange for Derrick White. Boston has the No. 53 overall pick in the second round.

The Spurs and Rockets have three first-round picks
