The price of an Oreo is skyrocketing, but it is only for one specific type of cookie – a rare, hard-to-find, limited-edition Pokémon one.

The new Pokémon Oreos are fetching thousands of dollars on eBay, with prices seen on the site going for as much as $35,000.

Oreo introduced the much-anticipated Pokémon Oreo earlier in September – a take on its traditional cookie that features an array of Pokémon characters emblazoned onto the chocolate.

According to CNN, some of the cookies are more coveted than others as they are harder to find, such as the Mew – a mythical psychic Pokémon, which is similar to seeing a unicorn.

Other characters featured in the Oreo collection include Bulbasaur, Charmander, Cyndaquil, Dratini, Grookey, Jigglypuff, Lapras, Pancham, Pikachu, Piplup, Rowlett, Sableye, Sandshrew, Snivy, and Squirtle.

Sellers on eBay are selling the Mew Pokémon Oreo for as much as $100,000 in one post seen on the e-commerce site, saying it was in “mint condition.”

Sellers on eBay are selling single cookies, a collection of 16 Poké mon cookies, and whole packs of Pokémon Oreos.

The interest in Pokémon has not faded since its introduction in the 1990s.

During the pandemic, Pokémon cards continued to be an interest for investors who were garnering top dollar with collectors, including up to $400,000 for a rare Charizard card, CNN reported.

When a violent incident broke out at a Wisconsin Target store over the purchase of Pokémon cards, the retailer stopped selling both sports and Pokémon at its locations.

At the time, a Target spokesperson told NBC News that the company would “temporarily suspend the sale of MLB, NFL, NBA and Pokémon trading cards within our stores,” adding, “The safety of our guests and our team is our top priority."

The trading cards are still available for purchase online.
