The Seattle Storm visited President Joe Biden at the White House on Monday to celebrate their 2020 WNBA championship.

Seattle defeated the Las Vegas Aces in a 3-game sweep, giving the organization their fourth championship title in their history.

“In the WNBA amidst a year unlike any other, this team met the moment,” Biden said.

He noted three of Seattle’s players — Sue Bird, Jewell Loyd, and Breanna Stewart — all represented the United States in Tokyo as members of the Women’s Olympic team that took home the gold medal.

The players were also recognized for their efforts to encourage people to get vaccinated and their advocacy for racial justice and protecting transgender communities. All players in attendance wore masks in compliance with federal guidelines.

Biden said the team sets a great example for millions of young girls.
