World Milk Day 2021: History, Theme And Quotes To Share

There are several proven health benefits to consuming milk as it comes packed with important nutrients and is an excellent source of protein. Drinking milk is often associated with healthy bones because of its potential to prevent osteoporosis and bone fractures.

Keeping these reasons in mind, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations established World Milk Day in 2001 to spread awareness about the importance of milk and dairy products.

Every year on June 1, several events are lined up across the world to promote the benefits of milk and dairy products, and to talk about how the dairy industry supports the livelihoods of billions. However, due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, the Food and Agriculture Organization has urged event managers to shift to online campaigns this year.

This year’s theme focuses on "sustainability in the dairy sector with messages around the environment, nutrition and socio-economics," the official website of the celebration stated.
