  • Johnny Gargano dropped a ton of hints at the latest episode of NXT 2.0
  • Grayson Waller attacked Gargano as he was wrapping up his segment
  • There is a possibility that Gargano would stay with WWE

Johnny Gargano promised the fans that he would clear things up at tonight’s episode of NXT 2.0, and the clues he left point to him staying rather than leaving.

The 34-year-old from Cleveland, Ohio recounted a short version of his road to making it into WWE, including all the doubters that told him he was not good enough of a performer to become a WWE superstar.

However, Gargano later addressed the heart of the matter: whether he was staying or he was going.

He started his statement by telling the fans that he is very much aware of how scary change is, but that it can sometimes be inevitable.

“If there's one message I want to leave for you guys, is you will never fail if you bet on yourself. I don't know what my immediate future holds, that's up in the air now still. I may do some things here and there, but I do know one thing for sure, that in February I'm going to start the most important job of my life because I'm going to be a dad,” Gargano remarked to the loud applause of the fans at the WWE Performance Center.

As Gargano was set to end his speech, Grayson Waller attacked him and put his head through a steel chair then rammed it into the steps, finishing him off with a powerbomb through the announcers’ table as the screen faded to black.

Gargano’s contract status with WWE was originally set to expire on December 3, but reports emerged that he had signed a one-week contract to allow him to compete at NXT WarGames, with no long-term deal inked.

But should the beloved NXT superstar really be staying, fans can expect an update from WWE’s social media pages regarding Gargano’s status after the Waller attack, as they usually do.

After NXT went off the air, Twitter user Jacob Cohen took photos of both Tommaso Ciampa and Kyle O’Reilly sharing some words with Gargano, which practically assures that he will be gone for some time.

Taking all of the clues at face value, Gargano is completely undecided on what he does next and will remain on the sidelines as he weighs his options.

The “I may do some things here and there” line may refer to him doing some independent circuit work before deciding whether he stays with WWE in the long run.

Gargano “betting on himself” is a completely 50/50 hint as it may refer to him moving to WWE’s main roster or joining rival promotion All Elite Wrestling.

Whatever the case may be, the sure thing in all of this is that Gargano will be going on paternity leave until the end of February and fans will be waiting for bated breath until the next clues come out.
