• Rey Mysterio and Seth Rollins have been on a feud for the past few weeks in Monday Night Raw
  • The WWE announced a retirement ceremony for Mysterio
  • It is rumored that Mysterio's son Dominick will get involved in the storyline with Rollins

The high-flying Rey Mysterio has announced that he will be retiring from the WWE after a vicious attack from Seth Rollins. It has been speculated that this angle is a setup to open an opportunity for Mysterio’s son Dominick to enter the story with a feud against Seth Rollins.

The retirement angle has been pushed due to a development in the storyline between Rollins and Mysterio. For the past few months, Rollins has been using the Monday Night Messiah as one of the brand’s top heels.

Just a few weeks ago, Rollins drove Mysterio’s eye to the corner of the steel steps causing a severe injury for the luchador legend. This has led to the WWE announcing a ceremony for Mysterio as he announces his retirement.

This is predicted as a storyline that won’t go away that peacefully as fans and experts anticipate an appearance from Dominick to vindicate his father. This has happened before when the Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar had an altercation with Mysterio. After Lesnar attacked Mysterio in the middle of a promo, Dominick got involved and was also beaten in the center of the ring.

Per Bleacher Report, the same approach could be used for this situation given that Dominick is already training to become a wrestler. It would be an opportune time for Dominick to get involved in this angle with one of the best athletes in the roster. The expected direction would be that Dominick would come in the aid of his father and obtain revenge for Rollins’ actions.

However, another angle that is rumored to develop is that Dominick will join forces with Rollins. It’s an unexpected move and will give an additional depth to a debuting heel character.

While it is a possibility, it’s something that won’t happen immediately given that there has to be a foundation first of Dominick helping his father. Rollins’ gimmick now involves recruiting disciples in his team and this direction could be extended in the near future.

It would be interesting to see how Monday Night Raw will be booked in the succeeding weeks to come and if they will utilize Dominick in the storyline.
