For celebrities, privacy is at a premium. Every move they make is documented, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. Despite this fact, a number of celebrities have found ways to keep their love lives hidden away from eager paparazzi, gossip magazines and curious fans.

Adam Brody and Leighton Meester, who secretly wed in 2014 after several years together, are among one of the most private couples in Hollywood. The pair recently stepped out on a red carpet together in celebration of the release of “StartUp” — a new series on Crackle which Brody, 36, stars in. The appearance came as a surprise to fans as it is the first time the couple has done an appearance together since the 2014 Tony Awards and, as E! Online pointed out, their third public appearance in the many years they’ve been together.

The former “The O.C.” star and his actress wife aren’t the only celebrity couple vying for privacy in an age where nearly everyone is living publicly via social media. Here are seven other ultra-private celebrity pairs in Hollywood:

Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling

These two actors have been keeping us guessing about the status of their relationship since 2011 when they were first spotted together on a Disney date. In July 2014, after three years of breakup and makeup rumors, reports began circulating that Mendes and her beau were expecting their first child together. Much like their relationship, details surrounding both her pregnancy and the birth of their daughter Esmeralda remained under wraps. The couple welcomed a second little girl in May named Amada, but she has yet to be seen in public. However, Gosling has opened up about being the father of two girls in several interviews.

Kristen Stewart and Alicia Cargile

Although this couple has been spotted out and about together on a number of occasions, the “Girlfriend Experience” actress has remained tight-lipped about her relationship during a majority of her public appearances. During the rare occasions that she does discuss her love life, Stewart has nothing but positive things to say about Cargile. She most recently gushed about her better half in an interview with T Magazine this month.

Kerry Washington and Nnamdi Asomugha

After secretly tying the knot in 2013, Washington further stunned her fans by debuting a baby bump and in May 2014, the “Scandal” star and her NFL player husband Asomugha welcomed their first child together. Their daughter Isabella has not been seen in public since her birth. The award-winning actress surprised fans again in May, arriving on the red carpet at the Met Gala in New York City sporting a baby bump. She made no official pregnancy announcement and, if her first child is any indication, will not go public about her second child following his/her birth.

It’s not just their children’s lives the couple likes to keep under wraps. Early this year, Washington shut down rumors that her marriage was in trouble, reminding fans that she had been quiet about getting married and intended to remain that way in the face of questions about the status of her marriage.

“If I don’t talk about my personal life, that means I don’t talk about my personal life,” She said during SXSW in March 2016 (via Us Weekly). “That means not only did I not tell you when I was getting married, it also means if somebody has rumors about what’s going on in my marriage, I don’t refute them, because I don’t talk about my personal life.”

Allison Williams and Ricky Van Veen

In the years since the “Girls” star and College Humor co-founder met, they have kept details of their relationship hidden from the public. In September 2015, after four years together, Williams and Van Veen wed in a star-studded secret ceremony that fans only learned about after the fact. Williams, whose father is esteemed journalist Brian Williams, announced her wedding in an Instagram post, sharing a photo of her and her husband sporting their Sunday best. Williams has been open about the fact that she doesn’t like talking about her relationships, instead opting to keep that between her and her spouse.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tasha McCauley

In January 2015 news broke that the “(500) Days of Summer” actor had gotten hitched in a private ceremony at his home. In the days that followed fans scrambled to dig up any and all information on his wife, who is not a celebrity. It was later revealed that Tasha McCauley is the co-founder of Fellow Robots and the director of business development at GeoSim. Months later, in August of the same year, they dropped even more jaws when a rep for the pair revealed that they had welcomed a child together.

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski

Despite the fact that these two have been married for more than half a decade, very little is known about their relationship. Blunt and Krasinski tied the knot in 2010 and have two children together, but choose to steer clear of the limelight when possible. The actor did, however, reveal that he considers marrying Blunt his “greatest achievement” during a screening of “The Hollars” on Aug. 19, according to The Huffington Post.

Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied

Married since August 2012, neither Portman nor Millepied have opened up much about their relationship. Rumors have swirled about the status of their marriage, but it appears that they are still going strong. The pair are said to have met on the set of “Black Swan,” which Millepied choreographed and Portman starred in. They have one child together.
