The Affair season 2 episode 4
Noah Solloway (Dominic West, right) and Alison Lockhart's (Ruth Wilson, left) surprise engagement causes consequences on Showtime's "The Affair." Showtime

It seems like everyone's world is starting to crash around them on Showtime's "The Affair." In Sunday's Oct. 18 episode, viewers witnessed Noah Solloway (Dominic West) make a hasty decision when he proposed to his mistress-turned-girlfriend Alison Lockhart (Ruth Wilson).

Maybe Noah forgot he's still legally married to Helen Solloway (Maura Tierney) and he has four kids who are struggling with their parents split, but it turned out that the proposal was not the best idea. Noah's daughter Whitney (Julia Goldani Telles) completely flipped out when she barged into her father's cabin with Alison and spotted the former waitress wearing a new diamond ring. Noah asked his daughter not to tell her mom about his secret, but glimpses from next week's episode hints that Whitney spilled the engagement news to Helen.

According to an official synopsis, via TV Guide, Noah and Alison will be hit with a "court order [that] leads to a dire setback" for them. In a sneak peek video for episode 4 it's revealed that a judge issued a court order prohibiting Alison from being near Noah's children.

Because of the court order, Noah also tells his new fiancée they can't live together anymore.

In another teaser for the Oct. 25 episode, Helen is seen trying to move on in wake of her split from Noah, but is having a hard time coping. In one scene at her store she reveals that Noah is trying to take all her money and she needs to store to start making a profit. In a third video, viewers see Helen heavily drinking and then getting arrested.

"The Affair" airs Sundays on Showtime at 10 p.m. EDT.
