Freshman series “The Affair” took home the Golden Globe Sunday for Best TV Series – Drama. The Showtime drama beat out “Downton Abbey,” Game of Thrones,” “House of Cards” and “The Good Wife.” Co-creator Sarah Treem accepted the award on stage, along with the cast.
“We are so honored just to be nominated in this category,” she told the audience. “This is unreal.”
Treem explained that their goal was to use the series to “talk about marriage,” and that it has been a “privilege and an honor” to write for the talented cast. She added that the Golden Globe win is the “best thing that’s happened to me in the business.”
The music began to play during her acceptance speech, but Sarah Treem managed to thank her husband Jay Carson before leaving the stage. The co-creator concluded by stating that marriages are “sacred, valuable and essential.”
While “The Affair” cast was celebrating, “Game of Thrones” fans took to Twitter to express how upset they were about the loss. Check out some of the funny lreactions from “Game of Thrones” fans below:
Still can't understand how Game Of Thrones lost to a show no one even knows. People who vote must be pretty stupid.

It's amazing to me that Game of Thrones never wins anything. That show is superb.
