Forget speculations and leaks, the Facebook for iPad app is finally here after almost two years of waiting.

On Monday, Facebook said it was ready to release an updated version of its iPhone application. This one is also designed to fill out the larger screen of the iPad. The app has been designed to emphasize photos, which will take up the entire screen. Users can pinch to zoom in on photos if they need to. They can also swipe left or right in order to navigating through a photo album.

We're releasing it now because it's done, Bret Taylor, chief technology officer of Facebook, told USA Today during an interview.

Apple launched its tablet computer about a year and a half ago and since then the lack of an iPad app for the most popular social networking site left users asking Where is the Facebook for iPad app?

Before the Facebook for iPad app announcement, people were using the MyPad free app to log onto their Facebook and Twitter accounts on their tablet computers. That app has features such as the newsfeed, chat, profile, and messaging. However, it was not the Facebook app people were hoping for. So download the app here.

Here's what you get with the new app:

Bigger, better photos: They are big, high-resolution and easy to flip through like a real photo album.

More Focus: With less on the screen, it's easier to zoom in on your friends' photos, updates and stories.

Fast Navigation: Tap, slide or pinch to get from one screen to another and back again.

Never lose your place: Use simplified navigation to send a message, see your notifications or browse your bookmarks without switching screens.

Gaming on the go: Play your favorite Facebook games wherever you are, and on a bigger screen.

Tap to send messages: A simple dropdown menu makes it easy to scan and send messages without visiting your inbox.
