The Secret Warriors’ first mission went worse than anyone could have imagined. After Giyera hijacked the plane and took everyone but Daisy and Lincoln hostage, the Inhumans decided to call in their friends. “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3, episode 17, showed the Secret Warriors going on their first mission together, but one of them was compromised during the rescue.

The Secret Warriors clearly aren’t expecting to be called in. Joey (Juan Pablo Raba) is in the middle of a date, and Elena (Natalia Cordova-Buckley) is about to get on a bus when their watches go off with the S.H.I.E.L.D. symbol. Daisy (Chloe Bennet) and Lincoln (Luke Mitchell) pick them up and reveal that they don’t have much information, but they have to save their friends.

The S.H.I.E.L.D. team locks themselves in a tiny room to protect themselves from Hydra’s Inhumans. May is in bad shape, and they need to get rescued fast.

The Secret Warriors are on their way! Lincoln and Daisy go solo while Elena and Joey stick together. The newbies take out some Hydra agents while Daisy finds the plane. It’s Lincoln who finds someone very useful: Malick (Powers Boothe).

Meanwhile, Hydra is trying to ram the door open on the plane. Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) pumps chlorine gas into the hallway to make them go away. Luckily, the Secret Warriors are coming to the rescue. Daisy tosses Giyera (Mark Dacascos) away from the plane, but Lucio (Gabriel Salvador) is still waiting for them inside.

Joey stabs Lucio after he sees the Hydra Inhuman take Lincoln down. Joey looks terrified after he realizes that he has killed the guy.

The Secret Warriors take the S.H.I.E.L.D. plane back and rescue their friends. Hive (Brett Dalton) and Giyera watch the plane leave, but the parasitic alien seems pleased. “Now we have one on the inside,” Hive says.

Malick is taken into S.H.I.E.L.D. custody. Though Coulson (Clark Gregg) wants revenge for Rosalind’s (Contstance Zimmer) death, he needs to know about what is possessing Ward. He has already done some research on Hive’s past, but he needs to know about his current plans.

Malick says Hive is capable of controlling the minds of other Inhumans. “If you trust any of them, stop now,” Malick warns.

Coulson tells Mack (Henry Simmons) to quietly lock down the base. The problem is that they don’t know how to tell if anyone is being influenced. They need to figure out some sort of test, but they can’t let the Secret Warriors know what they’re doing. Daisy knows Coulson is lying to her about why the base is locked down, but May (Ming-Na Wen) tells her that it’s probably for a good reason.

Coulson tries to get more information from Malick. The Hydra leader is still upset over the murder of his daughter Stephanie (Bethany Joy Lenz), and Coulson is hoping that Malick’s need for revenge will lead him to help. Malick thinks it will be difficult to fight a god.

“I’ve met gods. Gods bleed,” Coulson says. Malick agrees to help him.

Down in the lab, Fitz and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) discover that Lucio is only kind of dead. His body temperature hasn’t dropped yet. They open up the top of his head and find that parasites are inside of him. He was being controlled by Hive.

Coulson hears the news about Lucio and decides that the Secret Warriors should all be knocked out and quarantined. When Mack grabs an ICER gun he realizes that one of the deadly devices he showed Elena earlier is missing. Fitz and Simmons see the door to Malick’s interrogation room open just slightly. Someone put the bomb in there with Malick.

The scientists are thrown back against the wall, but they’re OK. Coulson, however, decides that they need to take action. A SWAT team comes in and corners the Inhumans. Coulson explains what is going on, but the Inhumans are offended that they’re being accused of working for Hydra.

Elena slingshots to one of the agents and steals a gun. Joey pulls the others into the rec room and then melts the doorknobs to keep the others out. The Secret Warriors start fighting with each other. The infected one could be any of them. Joey was AWOL when Malick was killed. Elena hates “bureaucratic nonsense,” so she may have decided to skip the red tape. There was an electrical failure, which points to Lincoln. Daisy says she was in her room, but no one can back up her alibi. Any of them could be the one Hive is controlling.

Daisy tells them she is leading them to an escape, but she leads them to a quarantine cell with Coulson. The director tells them that they know who the infected Inhuman is: Lincoln.

The S.H.I.E.L.D. team searches through lockers and finds the Kree sphere that Lincoln procured last week in his locker. It was stolen from the office it should be in, but Lincoln says he didn’t do it. He also points out that someone would have had to do that before the mission they just returned from. Daisy recalls Lincoln saying that he caught a glimpse of Ward the other week at the Transia building. Lincoln gets angry and electrocutes Elena and Coulson before Daisy throws him back.

Daisy tells Coulson that she failed her team, but he says it wasn’t her fault. That doesn’t stop him from disbanding her team. It’s not like they can really go on missions when they’re all in quarantine anyway. They have to be locked up until Fitz and Simmons find a way to test for Hive’s parasites without opening someone’s skull.

The scientists are frustrated. They just want to help their friends, but they can’t figure out how. Simmons cuddles with Fitz, and then she kisses him. It took months for the two to share their second kiss, but it looks like they won’t wait so long until their third liplock.

Fitz tries to apologize after they kiss. They said they were starting over, but Simmons realizes they can’t forget the past. “Fitz, it’s been 10 years,” she says. “We can’t waste any more time.” She decides that they need to finally take a chance on their romance.

After that lovely, lighthearted moment, episode 17 takes a dark turn. Daisy hacks her way out of her quarantine cell and says she is going to break Lincoln out. Lincoln isn’t exactly cool with that. “Daisy, what did you do?” he asks.

Daisy saw Hive before finding the plane when they saved their friends. Lincoln tries to convince her that she’s sick, but it’s useless. She is convinced that Hive is a god who will make the world beautiful.

In a flashback, viewers see that Malick knew she was Hive’s new lackey and said he didn’t want to be kept from his daughter. She killed him with her powers before setting off the bomb.

“The Daisy I know wouldn’t betray S.H.I.E.L.D., wouldn’t throw away what we have,” Lincoln says. She admits that she used Lincoln’s anger issues against him, but she won’t stay here with him. If he doesn’t want to leave, she’ll go on her own.

Daisy grabs the Kree sphere and Terrigen crystals before heading out of the base. She uses her powers to start destroying the base from above, letting everyone know that she is the one they were looking for.

Hydra is awaiting Daisy’s arrival. “We find Skye next,” Hive says, using the name Ward knew her by. In the meantime, they’ll spend Malick’s $960 million.
