Not all bad boys can be redeemed. “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3 isn’t going to be a season of forgiveness for Ward (Brett Dalton). After hearing that fans of the ABC drama were still holding out hope for a Skye/Daisy (Chloe Bennet) and Ward reunion, executive producer Jeff Bell hinted that the two aren’t exactly on the road to romance right now.

“Ward fell for Agent 33 last year, and after Daisy had put a couple bullets in him, it sure felt to me like he’d moved on,” Bell told TV Line.

Dalton has confirmed that he is going to be a bad guy in Season 3. In the Season 2 finale, Ward was seen rebuilding Hydra after Agent 33’s (Maya Stojan) death, and the actor revealed that Season 3 will show Hydra’s new focus. “This is not like your father’s Hydra,” Dalton told Comic Vine. “In the past, they have been about world domination and all these things like that. It’s not so much pro-world domination as it is anti-S.H.I.E.L.D. This is the yin to Coulson’s yang. This is Hydra in Ward’s vision. Ward isn’t for formality and all of that.”

Ward won’t be romancing Skye while he is leading Hydra, but the show won’t forget about their relationship. Skye is a large part of the reason Ward is dedicated to destroying Coulson’s (Clark Gregg) organization. “S.H.I.E.L.D. can be directly responsible, in his eyes, for two failed relationships that he’s tried to have which were very important to him—one with Skye and one with Agent 33,” Dalton added. “If it weren’t for S.H.I.E.L.D. meddling in all his affairs, he’d be a much happier man. So there’s an axe to grind.”

Ward would have to romance a much more confident and powerful Skye if they ever get back together. Skye is heading into Season 3 with a new haircut and name, Daisy, to go with her new leadership position. She is helping Coulson put together the Secret Warriors.

“Certainly, there is nobody that Coulson trusts more than Skye at this point and setting up Secret Warriors is the number one task of this season,” Gregg explained to SpoilerTV in July. “I think he would be comfortable giving her any responsibility that he would give himself.” As long as she is working side-by-side with Coulson and Ward holds a grudge against him, it doesn’t seem like a relationship will blossom.

However, the executive producer didn’t say a Skyward romance was completely out of the question. “Anything is possible,” Bell reasoned.

“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3 premieres Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 9 p.m. EDT on ABC. Do you want Ward and Skye to get back together? Sound off in the comments section below!
