Coulson complained that he was the only one who hasn’t seen Ghost Rider yet, but he should be careful what he wishes for. The former director will meet East Los Angeles’ newest vigilante in “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 4, episode 4. It doesn’t seem like it’ll be a friendly meeting, though.

“Ghost Rider’s quest for vengeance brings him into an explosive confrontation with S.H.I.E.L.D.,” the synopsis reveals. The trailer for the ABC drama above shows that they’ll manage to capture Robbie (Gabriel Luna) as well. They have him in a containment module, but can the white cell hold Ghost Rider?

After meeting Robbie, Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Mack (Henry Simmons) will find themselves working with a new partner. “Coulson and Mack must rely on an unlikely ally in their time of desperate need,” the episode 4 summary teases.

Photos shows Coulson visiting a prison, which might hint at who he teams up with. Eli Morrow (Jose Zuniga) is listed as a guest star in this episode, and Robbie noted in episode 3 that his uncle was in jail. Perhaps Eli can help S.H.I.E.L.D. with something.

The title of episode 4 is a nod to Jimi Hendrix. “Let Me Stand Next to Your Fire” is a line from Hendrix’s 1969 song, “Fire.” It’s safe to say that the title is a reference to Ghost Rider, the man with the flaming skull.

Meanwhile, Daisy (Chloe Bennet) is going to be pairing up with someone too. “Daisy reunites with a familiar face to stop the Watchdogs,” the synopsis says. That “familiar face” is likely James (Axle Whitehead). The Inhuman, also known as Hellfire, is listed as a guest star in Season 4, episode 4. He hasn’t been seen since he was under Hive’s (Brett Dalton) influence in last season’s finale, so it will be interesting to see how he has handled his freedom.

The mysterious Senator Nadeer (Parminder Nagra) is not listed as appearing in this episode, so it looks like last week’s intriguing cliffhanger with her brother will remain unanswered. However, new mysterious characters will be introduced. “Dawson’s Creek” alum Kerr Smith will be playing a man named Joseph.

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 4, episode 4 airs Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
