Canadian gold producer Agnico Eagle said third-quarter gold production rose about 11 percent sequentially, helped mainly by improved performance at two mines in Finland and Canada, and forecast higher production for the next quarter.

For the July-September quarter, the company's gold production was 265,978 ounces, compared with 239,328 ounces of gold in the second quarter of 2011.

Gold production was 37,924 ounces at the company's Kittila Mine in northern Finland, compared with 30,811 ounces in the second quarter.

Production at its Meadowbank mine near Nunavut in Canada was 78,141 ounces of gold, compared with 59,376 ounces of gold in the previous quarter.

Shares of the company closed at C$59.22 on Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
