Jo will finally come clean about her secret marriage during Season 13, episode 9 of “Grey’s Anatomy.” Her refusal to get serious with then-boyfriend Alex lead him to attack DeLuca in a fit of rage during Season 12 and he may be paying the price for that soon.

ABC’s sneak-peek clips for the episode show a heartwarming moment between Jo (Camilla Luddington) and Alex Karev (Justin Chambers). Fearful that he’ll be sent to jail for assaulting DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti), Alex offers his ex one final apology. He reminds her that, despite what he said in anger, she’s “not trash.” Jo reminds him that he’s already said sorry, which suggests it may be too late for their romance to be rekindled. In the final moments of the “Grey’s Anatomy” episode 9 preview, Jo can be heard telling Alex about her husband.

Photos for the episode, which will serve as the winter finale, as well as a synopsis back the information revealed in the sneak peeks. Stills from the episode show Jo upset while standing in what appears to be a supply area. It is not clear who she is speaking to, as only photos of DeLuca — not Alex — are available.

Additionally, “Grey’s Anatomy” viewers can expect to see some drama between Richard (James Pickens Jr.) and Bailey (Chandra Wilson). The pair will reportedly butt heads over the addition of Dr. Eliza Minnick (Marika Dominczyk) to the Grey-Sloan Memorial Staff. It is unclear whether their feud is related to the influx of patients due to a local building collapse or will affect their ability to help.

The drama between Alex, Jo and DeLuca has been a major part of Season 13 of “Grey’s Anatomy,” though it has been on the back burner for several episodes. The topic was last brought up in episode 6, during which DeLuca anxiously waited to find out when he would have to face Alex in court once again. He also experienced some jealous feelings as he watched Jo and Alex work together on a case, which left “Grey’s Anatomy” fans uncertain whether they should expect to see a romance bud between the two residents. DeLuca confronted Jo about her spending time with Alex, at which time she told him it was simply work-related. Still, DeLuca seemed to believe it would be for the best if they just stopped talking about the ongoing case between he and Alex.

Tune in to ABC on Thursday at 8 p.m. EST for more “Grey’s Anatomy.”
