It had 16 total nominations, and the night had been very kind to HBO's big hit Limited Series, "Big Little Lies."

During the live CBS telecast of the Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday Night, the limited series was quick to wrap up several awards in the categories it was nominated in, cementing its status as the critical success it was when it ran on HBO beginning in February of this year.

Ahead of the telecast, the show was nominated for a total of 16 Emmy Awards, across a variety of categories. In addition to several creative awards, the series saw a large portion of the cast up for acting awards as well. Early on in the show, the series won big awards for acting.

Laura Dern, who portrayed Renata Klein on the series, won the award for Outstanding supporting actress in a Limited Series or mMovie. She also managed to beat out her co-star, Shailene Woodley, who portrayed Jane Chapman, for the honor.

Alexander Skarsgård, who portrayed Perry Wright on the show, also took home an award, winning Outstanding supporting actor in a Limited Series or Movie.
