Amal Clooney sported an Atelier Versace black lace dress during her visit to Rome past weekend where she met Pope Francis in Vatican City. The human rights attorney attended the pontiff’s Un Muro o Un Ponte Seminary at Paul VI Hall with husband George Clooney.

The 55-year-old actor received an award for his work with Francis' Scholas Occurrentes, an International Organization of Pontifical Right that connects technology with arts and sports. Amal was perfectly dressed for her husband’s achievement, teaming her black dress with a black headpiece, Jimmy Choo nude heels and a clutch bag.

The 38-year-old British-Lebanese activist kept her makeup simple as she sat next to George, who wore a classic black and white suit for the award ceremony.

Amal and George were joined at the Vatican meeting by Richard Gere and Salma Hayek, who received medals for their work with the Pope's foundation.

The couple's visit to Rome came amid rumors about troubles in their marriage. According to Star magazine, George and Amal, who have been married for over a year and a half, were spotted fighting at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this month. However, Gossip Cop debunked the report.
