The second episode of the National Finals of “American Ninja Warrior” aired Monday on NBC featuring the most anticipated run in the history of the show. Kacy Catanzaro, the first woman to have ever completed a city finals course (which she did earlier this season in Dallas), returned to Las Vegas for her shot at Stage 1 of the Mount Midoriyama Course.

However, things did not go as planned for the popular star. While Catanzaro got off to a good start in the difficult course, navigating the first three obstacles with relative ease, things got tougher when she reached the fourth obstacle -- the Spider Jump. Catanzaro got a solid jump, but even fully extended in an impressive split, her five-foot frame wasn't enough to grab hold of the separated walls sending her tumbling into the pool below.

“American Ninja Warrior” reporter Jenn Brow got Catanzaro’s reaction to her disappointing, though no less inspiring, finish. Catanzaro spoke about her experience this season saying, “It has been such a dream. All of this has been so amazing. I wanted, obviously, to do better than I did here, but I couldn’t have asked for anything more this season.” Catanzaro also assured fans that she will return next season.

To Catanzaro’s credit, the only woman to complete the Spider Jump was Meagan Martin, who did it during this season’s first National Finals episode. Martin qualified for Las Vegas as a wildcard after failing to complete the Denver finals course. Martin did not stumble on any obstacle at Mount Midoriyama, but was unable to get to the end of the course in time enough to advance, timing out at the Warped Wall.

For the 18 contestants who did complete Stage 1, the National Finals will continue next Monday, Sept. 8, on NBC with Stage 2. Fans can watch Kacy Catanzaro’s run again when the second Stage 1 episode re-airs on Esquire Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 8 p.m. EDT.
