Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update Rolls Out On AT&T Galaxy Note, Verizon Galaxy Note 2

The Samsung Galaxy Note family is finally getting caught up on much-anticipated Android system updates, with the Galaxy Note on AT&T and Galaxy Note 2 on Verizon now receiving upgrades to Android 4.1.2.

Fans of the large-screened Samsung Galaxy smartphones are delighted to see 4.1.2 updates on these devices that were seemingly forgotten, as a number of newer Samsung devices are now receiving updates to and shipping with versions of Android 4.2.

The Galaxy Note, which was released on October 2011, originally shipped with Android 2.3 Gingerbread and got an Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich update in July 2012. The Galaxy Note 2, which was released on September 2012, originally shipped with Android 4.1.1, making its first system update.

The Android 4.1.2 update brings a number of enhancements and new features to both devices. AT&T’s Galaxy Note will receive build I717UCMD3 of Jelly Bean over the air, with such updates as Google Now, improved notifications and improved speed on Project Butter, as well as Popup Video and Browser, among many other upgrades.

Verizon’s Galaxy Note 2 will receive build JZO54K.I605VRAMC3 of Jelly Bean over the air, adding updates like Popup Video and Browser, which now works with YouTube, Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, Amazon Kindle, Viewdini, and Google Maps and Talk. Android 4.1.2 also includes improvements to apps like ISIS Mobile Wallet, VZ Navigator, Backup Assistant Plus, Exchange Active Sync (EAS) email, SMS text messaging and Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as its Mobile Hotspot. The 4.1.2 update also removes the preloaded app Zappos.
