Although users of Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are yet to receive the official Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update, a new video has emerged, providing an exclusive look at the firmware. The video by SamMobile shows an early build of Android 5.1.1 meant for the latest flagship handsets.

According to the video, the update will bring some subtle changes to the platform. The most notable improvement is the addition of a feature to disable the “S Finder” and “Quick Connect” buttons found below the quick settings toggles. The update also comes with an option to enable a motion effect on the device’s home screen wallpaper.

In addition, there is a noticeable UI change on the Theme menu, which adds a purple-colored “Theme Store” button at the bottom of the installed themes list. A new exposure control feature has also been added to the camera app.

According to previous reports, the upcoming Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update will also include new modes in the camera app as well as multi-user support.

The South Korean conglomerate is expected to release the update sometime this month.

An Even Bigger ‘Edge’

While users await the latest Lollipop update, Samsung is rumored to be working on a bigger model of the curved-screen version of the Galaxy S6.

The handset -- rumored to be named either “Galaxy S6 Plus” or “Galaxy S6 Edge Plus” -- could feature a 5.5-inch display, which could incorporate an extra column of icons on the home screen, SamMobile reported Thursday, citing newly leaked images.

The images also showed that there is more space between the camera module and the phone’s edges, compared to current Galaxy S6 models. However, as previous rumors suggested, the Plus model -- with a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor -- may not be as powerful as the regular Galaxy S6 handsets, according to SamMobile.

‘Plus’ Vs. ‘Plus’

A report said Tuesday that Samsung could only be a few weeks away from releasing the Plus version of the Galaxy S6.

The new smartphone, which could sport a curved display on its left and right edges, is expected to take on Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus with a 5.5-inch display, Apple Insider reported, citing an Italian website HDblog.it.

There are also rumors that the so-called “Galaxy S6 Edge Plus” may carry a model number SM-G928, and include features such as 32GB internal storage, a 5-megapixel front camera and a 16-megapixel rear camera.
