Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt caused a massive stir when news of their divorce and custody battle emerged last September. Since then, a lot has been said about the real reason behind the estranged couple’s separation, including parental alienation and abuse claims.

As the Jolie-Pitt divorce gets nasty, Laura Wasser, Hollywood’s renowned divorce lawyer for A-list celebrities, has been put under the spotlight. According to New York Post’s Page Six, Wasser’s celebrity clients include Jennifer Garner, Ashton Kutcher, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Gwen Stefani and Britney Spears.

The publication added that Wasser has a reputation for being Hollywood’s “chicest, savviest divorce lawyer,” who often manages to keep the details of her clients’ divorces under wraps and away from the media. Unfortunately, one of her most recent clients, Jolie, might have put her reputation in jeopardy as Pitt’s estranged wife rejected Wasser’s advice to “go on lockdown” while she deals with the divorce proceedings.

Jolie, who had Wasser on retainer, as per CNN, was reportedly releasing several accusations aimed at Pitt — including alcohol, drug and child abuse, as well as infidelity claims. Jolie’s camp also leaked some private information, and these moves go against Wasser’s celebrity divorce guidelines.

It was further revealed that Jolie’s accusation leakage could be a factor for Wasser to drop a divorce case. Wasser, one of Tinseltown’s high-powered attorneys, even told Dame magazine in 2012 that she refuses to take a case when a “client wants to go public” with information that she thinks could affect the family, saying she feels uncomfortable “when the desire to ruin the other person is so great.”

With that said, will Jolie and Pitt’s divorce case take a toll on Wasser’s reputation as a family law attorney? According to another divorce lawyer, Nancy Chemtob, who has represented famous chef Bobby Flay, “no client is worth harming” a lawyer’s brand and reputation.

Chemtob also said she believes that Jolie has a self-destructive nature, saying the 41-year-old “By the Sea” actress is only hurting herself. Chemtob revealed that a celebrity client is “animated by revenge” when he or she won’t listen or agree to seal a divorce file.

In other related reports, Daily Mail reported that Pitt’s friends are accusing Jolie of hurting her family because of the nasty divorce battle. Jolie, on the other hand, is accusing the 53-year-old “Allied” star of “grossly mischaracterizing” her conduct.

Meanwhile, Wasser is the daughter of highly respectable family lawyer, Dennis Wasser. She is one of the attorneys and paralegals of Wasser, Cooperman & Mandles in Los Angeles.
