"Mr. and Mrs. Smith" is coming to television. The hit action thriller comedy of 2005, starring Hollywood's super couple, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has become the inspiration for an upcoming reality television series.

The story of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” revolves around bored married couple John and Jane Smith, played by Jolie and Pitt. The couple secretly work as assassins without each other's knowledge. However, the story takes an interesting twist when they are hired by competing agencies to kill each other.

Todd A. Nelson and Brant Pinvidic of 3 Ball Entertainment and New Regency, the original producers of the movie, are also producing the reality game show. However, there will be a twist in the TV game format, writes Variety.

The producers have not revealed more details of the project. 3 Ball Entertainment, also known as Eyeworks USA, is the company whose previous works include “My Cat From Hell” and “Bar Rescue.” Like the movie, the reality series will feature married couples who compete for the title of a power couple in a “high-octane, high-stakes game that offers a twist on the TV competition format,” according to the producers.

The movie “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” raked in US$478 million in 2005 and was a box-office blockbuster. Other stars in the film include Adam Brody, Chris Weitz, Jennifer Morrison, Keith David, Kerry Washington, Michelle Monaghan, and Vince Vaughn. The movie holds a special significance for Jolie and Pitt because the couple kicked off their romance while shooting the movie.

The couple denied their romance at that time because Pitt was still married to wife Jennifer Aniston. But he later got divorced from Aniston and went on to live with Jolie. Over a period of time, the couple adopted three kids and also produced three biological kids together. They finally tied the knot in 2014 in the presence of their six children Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox.
