With the Cody boys desperate to prove themselves successful without Smurf, the siblings finally follow through with their big plan on “Animal Kingdom” Season 2, episode 5. The synopsis and promo video tease that the heist may not go the way they hoped.

“You don’t get caught, you do not kill anyone,” Baz (Scott Speedman) can be heard saying in the promo.

“Unless you have to,” Pope (Shawn Hatosy) adds.

Elsewhere in the “Animal Kingdom ” Season 2, episode 5 promo, Craig can be seen speeding down the street, cutting in between cars as if he is in a hurry or being chased. “Maybe they’ll start showing me some respect,” he can be heard saying.

Animal Kingdom
Craig’s (Ben Robson) hesitations may put the heist in jeopardy on “Animal Kingdom” Season 2, episode 5. TNT

From the very beginning, Craig has had his doubts about robbing the megachurch. Not only will he be forced to do the grunt work, but he also believes the boys will garner a bunch of bad karma for stealing from a place of worship. However, with up to $300,000 on the line, Craig may just have to get over his hesitations.

His desire to skip robbing the church probably should have been taken into consideration. From the looks of the “Forgive Us Our Trespasses” promo, the job doesn’t go as planned.

J (Finn Cole) can be seen sitting on a couch, moaning in agony as Deran (Jake Weary) holds him down. Baz can later be seen cutting open a pair of pants to reveal a bloody, injured leg. Did J get hurt during the job? Does that mean the Cody boys really can’t succeed without Smurf (Ellen Barkin) by their side?

“Javi (Alex Meraz) surprises Smurf with a visit,” the synopsis says. In the promo, Smurf can be seen walking to her car while holding a storage bin. Suddenly, two men grab her and throw her in the back of a van as she fights to get free.

“Once you shoot, you don’t stop shooting,” Smurf can be heard saying as the second half of the promo plays. Later on, the Cody matriarch can be seen standing face to face with Javi who is pointing a gun at her. Is Javi threatening Smurf or does he plan to shoot?

In a previous episode, it was revealed that Javi holds a lot of resentment towards Smurf, who kicked him out of her house when his father left. Smurf used to pull jobs with Javi’s father and a guy named Manny when she was younger until Javi’s dad disappeared. Rather than taking in Javi and raising him as one of her own, she left Javi to fend for himself which resulted in him living a life of crime with Manny.

Javi first came back into Smurf’s life when Manny was on his deathbed and encouraged her to visit him. However, Smurf never came and Manny died before they could speak. Although it seems like Javi definitely has a grudge against Smurf, it looks like his recent interest to insert himself back into her life has ulterior motives.

“Animal Kingdom” Season 2, episode 5 airs Tuesday at 9 p.m. EDT on TNT.
