Anna Nicole Smith’s Daughter Dannielynn Wears Matching Outfit With Dad Larry Birkhead At 2016 Kentucky Derby [PHOTOS]

Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter Dannielynn is all grown up! The 9-year-old was photographed with dad Larry Birkhead at the 142nd Kentucky Derby in Louisville, Kentucky, on Saturday, May 7.

Dannielynn was all smiles with her dad over the weekend as the pair attended the races together for the sixth year in a row. Danielynn rocked a floral mint green and pink dress with a matching hairpiece and shoes. Birkhead opted to match his daughter, wearing a mint green jacket with a pink bow tie. The fashionable pair, who also live in Kentucky, appeared to have a great time together.

The father-daughter tradition of attending the horse races actually has sentimental meaning to Birkhead. According to People magazine, Birkhead met Anna Nicole Smith at a Kentucky Derby party in 2004. Dannielynn was born two years later on Sept. 7, 2006. Smith died on Feb. 8, 2007 from “combined drug intoxication.”

Birkhead opened up about life with Dannielynn this past November, telling Entertainment Tonight that he’s been doing everything in his power to help his daughter lead a normal life.

“I think [about] how far she’s come and all the craziness that swirled around her and that she was just really none the wiser. Just a little kid doing her thing like she’s supposed to be,” Birkhead told the outlet. “That’s the one thing that I’m most proud of that I’ve done – trying to keep everything as normal as I can in just a really crazy, crazy situation.”
